Q. Who are you? 

We're the UK's leading supplier of custom written essays and dissertations. We were founded by James Lavoy and Martin Champion, and for the past 9 years we've been providing the industry's leading custom academic writing service. 24houressay.co.uk is part of AAR, the UK's leading academic research and writing company. Q. How can I be sure you're a British company? 

There are many sites out there that claim to be British and to employ British writers, but many of them are lying, as you can see if you look up their website registration record at the Who Is database. Anyone can buy a .co.uk domain name, stick a Union Jack flag on their site and claim to be British, but it's impossible to fake your Who Is entry because the accurate registration of any domain name is a legal requirement. Look us up and you'll see that we're listed as British.

You can also tell that we're British because we have a British address, British phone numbers and a British bank account.

Please note that we're not claiming non-British sites are inherently bad, simply that when you're ordering an academic essay in English, you need a writer who is extremely fluent in the language, and many non-British sites offer you non-British writers whose work will not pass muster at a British university - that's why they lie about where they're based. Q. I've already written my work - can you rewrite it for me? 

Yes. People often ask us for help in this area, and we always find that our writers are able to make useful changes to both the content and structure of the work. In virtually every case, these changes move the work up at least one clear grade, e.g. from 2:2 to 2:1, if not further.

Q. Is it legal to buy an essay or dissertation? 

Yes, it's 100% legal. There are no grey areas. What you choose to do with the work after you receive it from us is up to you, and we make no claim on copyright, so once you receive the work, we destroy our copies and you can do anything with it, as if you wrote it yourself.

About Your Essay 

Q. Will the work be completely unique and original? 

Yes. The work will be researched and written from scratch by our writer, and will be 100% original. It will pass any anti-plagiarism test.

Q. What sources will the writer use? 

The writer will use academic sources, principally books but with a healthy and proportionate number of academic journals. If there are certain texts that you specifically want the writer to include, please let us know and we'll be happy to get that done for you.

Q. How many references will the writer use? 

A typical 2,500 word essay would usually have between 8 and 15 references. A typical 15,000 word dissertation would usually have between 20 and 30. We're happy to stick to a certain number or limit, so just let us know. Most other sites pad out their work with huge sections of direct quotes, but we're the only custom essay writing service that guarantees your work will be made up of no more than 5% references, and that these will be properly cited.

Q. What format do you use for referencing? 

Whatever format you want! It's very important that you know what format your college or university uses, because when you submit your work they may take marks away if you have used the wrong referencing format, and this is one of the most common mistakes that students make, so let us know. Q. Will the work have a bibliography? 

Of course! While some sites include the bibliography in the word count (which makes your essay too short, as universities don't count it), we add the bibliography at the end for free. Again, let us know what format you want us to use.

 Q. Will the work have an appendix? 

If you want an appendix, just let us know and we'll provide an accurate, relevant and properly referenced appendix for free. Otherwise, it's up to the writer to decide whether it would be appropriate. For shorter essays, it's rare (though not unheard of) for an appendix to be necessary. For longer work and dissertations, an appendix is common. You can of course discuss your appendix-related requirements with your writer at any time.

Q. What if the work needs images? 

If the work needs images, they will be included for free. We normally leave it up to the writer to decide what, if any, images should be included, but we make sure that they are properly referenced. If you specifically want images, or there are certain images that you're keen on having included, just let us or the writer know and it'll be done for you. From technical illustrations to examples of artistic movements, we've got it covered.

Q. Can the writer carry out qualitative or quantitative research, e.g. a questionnaire? 

Yes. You can specify any research that you want carried out, and the writer will do all the work. Our writers are all experienced in this area, and know how to design, implement and analyse the results of any independent research. This is something that you should discuss with your writer, so he knows exactly what you want.

Q. Can I see the writer's notes and rough work? 

Yes. We're the only site that sends you a copy of all the writer's notes, rough work and research material for free. Other sites don't do this, because in many cases their writers don't make notes or carry out research. We believe, however, that you might find it useful to see how the essay was written and what research the writer carried out.

Q. What if I need a Powerpoint presentation? 

That's fine, we can provide one for you. If the presentation is based on a piece of work we're writing for you, it can usually be added for free. If you want a presentation written and put together from scratch, there will be a small charge of £30 per 12 slides. Q. What can I do with the work I order from you? 

You can do anything you like with it. We don't encourage you to submit the work as your own, but you are free to do that if you wish and the work will certainly gain a top mark and pass any plagiarism test.

Q. Will the work use British or American spelling? 

We're a British service with British writers, so all our work uses British spelling. We can convert any piece to American spelling, however, so just let us know if you want this done.

Worried About Plagiarism? 

Q. What is plagiarism? 

Plagiarism is the use of someone else's words without giving them credit. For example, if you copied a paragraph from a book, put it in your essay and pretended that you wrote it, that would be plagiarism. Universities are very much against plagiarism because the academic world needs to know where ideas and thoughts come from.

You're right to be worried about plagiarism because many custom essay writing sites stuff their work with plagiarism. This is why some sites are ridiculously cheap, since it takes their 'writers' only a few seconds to copy and paste work from different sources. While this might mean you can get an essay for around £5 per page, that essay will be completely useless to you, and you're much better off investing just a little more to get a completely original essay from us that is guaranteed to be free of plagiarism.

Q. Will the work you send me have any plagiarism? 

No. Not ever. All sites claim to be free of plagiarism, but we're one of the few that have genuinely never been found to have even a hint of plagiarism in any of their work. We have a series of safeguards in place to make sure that plagiarism stays out of our work: first, we only employ qualified academic writers who understand the importance of avoiding plagiarism; second, we make sure our writers know that we operate a 'one strike and you're out' rule, which means they would lose their job instantly if we found any plagiarism in their work; third, we put every piece of work through an independent plagiarism detection system (without leaving 'fingerprints' on the work) before sending it to you, and we send a copy of the results of that test to you along with the work; finally, we have a £2,000 No Plagiarism guarantee, which means that if you find any plagiarism in a piece of work ordered from us, we'll give you £2,000.

We've never had a case of plagiarism in any of our work, but we're continually improving our safeguards and we never relax our efforts to guarantee you peace of mind.

Q. How can I be sure there's no plagiarism in the work? 

We've been running our essay writing service since 2001 and we've never had a case of plagiarism. We guarantee that there won't be even a hint of it in any work ordered from us, and we have a £2,000 No Plagiarism guarantee that means you get £2,000 if you find any plagiarism in the work.

We also have APE (Automated Plagiarism Examiner), our state of the art in-house anti-plagiarism system that provides three layers of defence - in other words, at least two layers more than other sites. We have a whole section covering APE, so we won't go into it in detail here, but remember - we spent many years, and a lot of money, developing such a strong system, and we don't hire it or rent it out to anyone else.

Plus, the anti-plagiarism report that we send you is completely independent and comprehensive, but don't just take our word for it - you can check for yourself! The first thing you can do is read through the work. Plagiarism usually sticks out, because it involves the use of sections by different writers. Secondly, randomly select lines from the work and paste them into Google. If there's plagiarism from the internet, it will show up here. To make sure, put the work in quotation marks, e.g. "like this", which limits Google to finding the exact phrase that you're looking for. Third, you can use anti-plagiarism systems such as Turnitin, but you should be careful to choose the option that means Turnitin doesn't store a copy of your work, because you may subsequently have to pass the essay through Turnitin again in as part of your hand-in procedure.

WARNING: be extremely careful of so-called 'plagiarism detectors' such as Viper. These are often free, but they are not what they claim to be! These sites are set up to fool you into submitting your work to them. They then keep a copy of your work and attempt to sell it to other students. We have added our voice to a number of campaigns aimed at getting such sites closed down. Until we succeed, we recommend that when scanning for plagiarism you only use Turnitin or another reputable site, preferably one that has been recommended to you by a teacher.
